Parenthood Looks Different for Everyone, So Does Our Treatment

At The Motherhood Center, we know that mental health during pregnancy and the postpartum is complex. While many mothers/birthing people and partners experience depression or anxiety, others are navigating obsessive thoughts, grieving a loss, struggling with relationship changes, or feeling unseen as a partner. That’s why we’ve expanded our clinical offerings to support the full spectrum of parenthood.

As pioneers in perinatal mental health, The Motherhood Center is home to one of the most robust teams of reproductive psychiatrists and perinatal specialists in the country. We deliver specialized, evidence-based treatment from trying-to-conceive through postpartum, because no one should have to go through the hardest parts of parenthood alone.

Pregnant and Postpartum Women

Pregnancy and the postpartum period can bring unexpected emotional challenges, even in the midst of joy. At The Motherhood Center, we offer specialized care for mothers/birthing people navigating anxiety, depression, and other mood and anxiety disorders during and after pregnancy. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply not like yourself, our expert team provides compassionate, evidence-based care through therapy, medication management, and group services. You don’t have to go through this alone. Healing starts with a safe space and the right support.

Mom and Baby (The Dyad)

The emotional health of mothers/birthing people and their babies is deeply intertwined, and when a mother/birthing person is experiencing symptoms of a perinatal mood and anxiety disorder (PMAD), that connection can feel strained, distant, or disrupted.

We treat the dyad to ensure that both the mother/birthing person and baby receive the care, attention, and support they need for a secure emotional connection that can last a lifetime. Whether you’re struggling with bonding, recovering from a traumatic birth, navigating NICU challenges, or feeling unsure how to interpret your baby’s cues, we’re here for both of you. Because when you feel better, your baby benefits. And when your baby responds to your care with trust and calm, your confidence as a parent grows.

Trying to Conceive/ Fertility

For mothers/birthing people on medication who are trying to conceive or are newly pregnant, our team of Reproductive Psychiatrists help you understand how to safely continue, adjust, or reconsider your psychiatric medications.

Fertility journeys can be emotionally taxing, especially for those already managing mood and anxiety disorders. Our Perinatal Therapists provide a supportive therapeutic space to process the stress, grief, hope, and uncertainty that often accompany fertility treatments.

Navigating Miscarriage and Loss

Whether you’ve experienced a miscarriage, termination, stillbirth, or infant loss, you don’t have to grieve alone. Our Loss Support specialists provide validating and compassionate therapy to help you process grief, honor your experience, and begin healing on your timeline. No parent should have to suffer alone.

Dads and Partners

Dads and partners feel the impact of pregnancy and new fatherhood/parenthood, too. Whether your family is trying to conceive, pregnant, about to deliver, or postpartum, we’ve got you covered. We offer specialized care for dads/partners navigating stress, anxiety, identity shifts, and relationship challenges. Whether you’re supporting a loved one or struggling yourself, you’re not alone—we support the whole family.

Couples

Parenthood is a major transition for both of you and the relationship. Couples therapy at The Motherhood Center supports communication, intimacy, and partnership throughout pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond. We help couples adjust to becoming parents, negotiate new roles in the relationship, and feel more connected.
