Community Partnerships

The Motherhood Center greatly values our relationships with community partners. Over the years we have worked alongside city agencies, government officials, and non-profits to bring PMAD education, training, advocacy, and support in an effort to have a macro impact on the field of maternal mental health. These partnerships include:

Ronald McDonald House of New York

A supportive, caring place for out-of-town families to stay during treatment at TMC

The Motherhood Center has partnered with Ronald McDonald House New York to provide free, temporary housing for out-of-town pregnant and postpartum women and their families receiving treatment in the Day Program (as available). Located on East 73rd Street in Manhattan, the Ronald McDonald House provides transportation to and from The Motherhood Center, three meals a day, a wellness center and much more.

New York City Early Childhood Mental Health Training and Technical Assistance Center

The Motherhood Center has partnered over the years with TTAC to bring PMAD training to both internal staff as well as several city agencies and outside groups.

Planned Parenthood of Hudson Peconic

TMC has provided PMAD Training at Planned Parenthood’s Grand Rounds and will begin offering PMAD education and support to perinatal women in their Centering Pregnancy Program.

Lullaby Project, Carnegie Hall

The Motherhood Center has partnered with Carnegie Hall for many years to bring the gift of writing and professionally recording a lullaby to new and expecting mothers in the Day Program.

International Rescue Committee

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) helps people affected by humanitarian crises—including the climate crisis—to survive, recover and rebuild their lives. The Motherhood Center has provided PMAD training for U.S. and Europe-based IRC teams.

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Health

Since our inception, The Motherhood Center has worked closely with many departments and programs within DOHMH including:

  • The Bureau of Maternal Infant and Reproductive Health
  • The Nurse Family Partnership Program
  • The Maternal Health Quality Improvement Network
  • The Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Review Committee
  • The Citywide Doula Initiative

We have offered several PMAD trainings, maternal mental health consultation support, and free support groups for low-income perinatal women.

The New York Police Department

The Motherhood Center has trained NYPD officers, the EAP program, and the Medical Department on how to recognize and respond to PMADs.
