We believe that better care for mothers and birthing people starts with better-informed providers — and that the tools to get there should be accessible to every clinician, regardless of where they practice or what their budget looks like.
That’s why we’re proud to announce our new partnership with TPN.health, a national digital platform built by clinicians, for clinicians. Together, we’re making free continuing education available to behavioral health providers across the country — CE, CME, CNE, and many other license types included. If you’re a counselor in rural Montana or a social worker in suburban Georgia, these credits are for you.
Why Provider Training in Perinatal Mental Health Matters
One in five new and expecting mothers and birthing people experience a Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder (PMAD). PMADs are the number one complication associated with childbirth, surpassing gestational diabetes and hypertension — and mental health conditions, including suicide, are among the leading causes of maternal mortality nationally. Nearly half of all PMAD cases emerge before delivery, not after, meaning providers across every specialty have a role to play in early identification.
And yet perinatal mental health remains one of the most underserved areas in clinical training. This partnership is our effort to change that — by taking TMC’s clinical education national and removing the cost barrier entirely.
What Is TPN.health?
TPN.health connects over 120,000 verified behavioral health providers across all 50 states with free continuing education, a CE wallet to track credits and licensing requirements, a verified digital profile, and opt-in clinically matched referrals. Membership is free and open to any behavioral health professional.
Our First Course: Understanding Postpartum Psychosis
We’re launching on TPN.health with a course that addresses one of the most serious — and most misunderstood — conditions in perinatal mental health: postpartum psychosis. Presented by TMC Co-Founder, CEO, and Medical Director Dr. Catherine Birndorf, MD, this two-hour training covers the prevalence, risk factors, clinical presentation, assessment, and evidence-based treatment of postpartum psychosis (PPP). Participants will learn to identify PPP symptoms, distinguish them from related perinatal conditions, and understand how to differentiate psychotic, depressive, and OCD-related thoughts of infant harm. Postpartum psychosis is a psychiatric emergency — and it is treatable when providers know what to look for.
